THE DREAM OF DIEGO MARQUEZ

A Mexican folktale/drama about a subjugated man in a dying
marriage who meets Samuel, the devil himself. Convinced by
Samuel that life is too short to feel so trapped, Diego finally acts
on his feelings for the beautiful and fragile Marisol. As he
begins to find a new appetite for life, Diego is visited by young
Luc, who cautions him about the dangerous path on which he is
about to tread. Samuel reappears to plant the suspicion that
Diego’s wife has been the unfaithful one all along and points to
John, Diego’s only real friend, as her lover. Becoming more
suspicious every day, Diego realizes there may be some truth
in Samuel’s advice, making him more susceptible to Samuel’s
eventual suggestion that the only justice for such a betrayal is
death.
